¡La Vida Es Buena . . . Vivela!

A Colombiana and a Canadian take an inside look at how Latin women can make sexy look seamless in motherhood.

Micheline and Liana meet during their expatriate relocation to Buenos Aires, Argentina. As an everyday mom of a three- and five-year-old, Canadian Micheline is tired. She hasn't peed with the bathroom door closed in years and has no idea where her workout wear is. Personal time is a vague memory and she avoids mirrors at all costs.

Liana, a Colombiana and mother of a two- and a seven-old, bubbles up. She looks as fresh as a teenager whether she is going to the gym, playing with her girls or heading out for cocktails with her husband. Micheline discovers that Liana finds joy and humour in everything--from grocery shopping to waxing to hangovers. Yes, even hangovers...Through their friendship, they realize that Latin and non-Latin women look at the world with different perspectives on beauty, exercise and mothering.

Micheline decides she wants to take a drink from the Latin cup. After years of personal friendship, humour and outrageous stories, they decide to make it a project. The Beautiful Hangover is born.

¡Vamos chicas!

Two Xmas Days!!

So the best way to start is with our happy celebration of Xmas day. As you know Jules is from England and I am from Colombia, great combo! So in Colombia and in this part of the world we celebrate Xmas on December 24th and  in England the 25th... So Jules and I  have two days to celebrate this wonderful occasion with Sofia and Emma and we have been doing this for many years.  So this year on my Xmas day we all woke up very early to open the stockings and to see if Santa had come with all his presents and great appetite.
The first thing was to check if he had eaten the cookies and drunk the wine (nothing like a drunk Santa!) which we always leave for him next to the chimney. He had, of course! My oldest daughter, Sofia, asked me if Santa drank wine in every house he goes to.... Luckily the majority of the people give Santa milk...
That morning we opened our presents, put Xmas songs on, ate a very large and unhealthy breakfast and also searched for the presents that "clumsy" Santa always seems to drop in different places around the garden or even on the roof.
Our very good friends invited us and other families to spend the afternoon together at their house. Before this and in our normal rush we made a very quick stop at Mich's house to wish her and her family a very Merry Xmas. We exchanged presents, big kisses and hugs!
In our friends house we had a blast, the kids were in the pool swimming, playing and doing what kids do... On the other side of the garden our Canadian friend was cooking the most amazing BBQ in true Argentine style.  We all sat down at a large table and enjoyed every single piece of meat, wine and desert that was around...
When midnight arrived, despite how tired the kids were, they all went and jumped back into the pool. For my girls this was amazing to be in the pool so late "wow"... So I jumped in with them to witness the fireworks exploding in the sky.. it was magic!
The 25th of December, Jules Xmas day! The day started more or less the same way as the day before:  stockings, presents, large breakfast... But no doubt it is my favorite day. It is just the four of us and we are so ready to have a good time! We had rented a huge bouncy castle for the weekend  (this was a very nice surprise for the girls). We spent the day playing games in the garden, jumping on the castle and singing songs using Sofia's new amplifier and microphone that we bought her to go with Santa's present of a new electric guitar!
After a fantastic and simple dinner Emma and Sofia decided to sleep in the bouncy castle and Jules and I stayed up singing songs until the early hours of morning... I know our neighbors must have loved us!  ❀ Liana
